The beginning of my collaboration with the Greek
publishing house “Saita Publications” is a curious thing: a group of post
graduation students from the Faculty of Italian Language and Literature of the
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki discovered my profile on the G.A.I.'s
(Giovani Artisti Italiani) page, a website where Italian young artists share
their works. One of this guys, Georgios Pappas, that I have to thank a lot,
sent me a very pleasant email in which
he said that he really liked my works,
in particular a video about Jules Verne and his
extraordinary travel through his own books; a simple digital book with
story, texts, images, music and sounds. He asked me if he could share the video
on his cultural association website (ODF) with an artist presentation.
I accepted his request. Days after Georgios proposed
me to turn the video in a book, with the texts translated in Greek. I hesitate
a little, then I accepted again. I was pretty curious to step this new
path. Then this book, an e-book
actually, has been proposed to some Greek publishing houses.
And...bingo! A brilliant and non-profit publishing
house, ”Saita Publications”, showed its interest for my book and released a Greek
version on the Internet on June 2013. Later on July was released an Italian
version. And finally on August was released an English version!
When I was informed that I wouldn't be retributed for
this e-book, I hesitated a little, then I took a look on the “Saita
Publications” website and I saw the catalogue, their program, their projects
and ideas and I thought that maybe would be a great opportunity to me work with
another country and I was curious to see where this experience would lead me
to...
And with the 3 editions of the e-book (Greek, Italian
and English) I'm getting a lot of publicity! This is because Internet is a very
powerful medium and my works are everywhere now! And I'm so glad of this!
In the future I hope to make other wonderful
collaborations with publishing houses like “Saita Publications”! And I hope to
travel around the world (not in 80 days like Mr. Fogg, of course!) for my work.
This is happening right now, at the end of August I'll go to Thessaloniki and places around to present my
e-book and my work to some students from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
I'm quite excited but also scared! Anyway I can't wait!
